This is another assignment from my web-writing class aiming to respond to another professional blog. Why my research for this class always seems to revolve around an element of beer as a non-drinker myself i do not know. Perhaps i need to do more research for that particular subject later.

Blog for American Democracy Project is where I found an interesting blurb on
The Elkhart Party formed in February earlier this year.

Yes, a real political party that will be debating  with the Democrats and the Republicans in public form this upcoming October 8th.  Formed out of a bit of frustration, but it seems that frustration is not their running theme. Straight talking and down to earth this group is promising to keep to the topics that actually effect the county they wish to serve.

These candidates are running for the at-large common council seat and they are pictured above. Jason Moreno (middle), Rose Rivera (right), and Tom Butler (left). Among other things they are promising to run a campaign free of negative advertising and keep the focus on the local issues at hand.

They are making some headlines as people are wondering if they can make it as a party, but it seems to be agreed upon that their presence sure has to be making the other two parties think things through this election.

This political party has opened themselves up for debate starting back in March earlier this year at the New Paradigm. They will continue every 1st and 3rd Wednesday in the same location up until the elections. They invite residents, voters, and even the other parties to join them and of course have a beer too.

I was very interested in this posting and the information was put forth as very inviting to read about. Easy links and  language along with being very through in the information being presented. Mentioned a few extra times than needed that they meet for discussions with the public in an informal setting which includes beer. An invite to the public was very clear.

The target audience was anyone of voting age even if they didn't belong to Elkhart county. It sounded like they really wanted to establish themselves and  they format of what could be accomplished in their political office even if it was copied for another county.
